Coworking

Work session for CogiFactory at La Fonderie, in Mulhouse
CogiFactory is one of the most innovative co-working initiative in Alsace. Started in 2007, this organization, combining 9 companies and 1 university has created an incredible talent pool when it comes to e-marketing tools, services and solutions.
This meeting was about setting plans for the next few years and it looks like we are setting up a great vision. To be followed…

Quick note
A quick note to tell you that the city of Strasbourg is now available on Foursquare (http://foursquare.com/). Go and visit.
And for all my Alsatian friends, add stuff!
This was probably made possible by the action we did on Facebook (and on Foursquare’s site).

Agenda
Things are moving here, so here is an agenda for Q1 2010. Events are mostly IT-oriented, others are worth having a look…
Feb. 4 – Gala des Ambassadeurs d’Alsace – Würth Museum, Erstein
The Alsace Ambassadors is an informal group of enthusiasts willing to share their passion about Alsace. Although this is not an IT organization, they will present their new web site, along with new social tools. To learn more about the Club des Ambassadeurs d’Alsace, visit their current web site at http://www.ambassadeurs-alsace.com/.
Feb. 9 – Meeting with Phil Jeudy – CP Plex, rue des magasins, Strasbourg
Phil Jeudy runs a company called Altaïde Valley. They define themselves as “Altaide is a company passionate about new and high technologies (yes we are “geek” people), surveying last market trends and share this passion with its customers and candidates”. Phil will be in Alsace for a meeting (and an Ignite) to share his views with other entrepreneurs on how we can make the two valleys work together.
The event will be held at the CP Plex, the regional HQ for Creative Patterns. Special thanks to Stéphane Becker. If you want to attend this meeting, please contact me at jgp at jgp dot net.
Feb. 9 (6pm) – Ignite Strasbourg #2 – Maison de l’Entreprise, Schiltigheim
After the success of the first Ignite in France outside of Paris, we deciced to have our second Ignite in combination with the visit of Phil Jeudy in Alsace. Strasbourg will not participate in the Global Ignite Week, but a delegation of Alsatian IT companies will probably participate in the first Ignite in Africa, in Casablanca, Morocco.

Blog,
Coworking
This morning was a busy morning, I sure missed playing Lego with my kids, but I was out there working for their future…

Some of the members of our co-working initiative
Along with other entrepreneurs, we started working on a defining a place where we could all meet, work and, mainly, exchange ideas. The inspiration is really based on what La Cantine has provided or even Plug and Play Tech Center.
We have enough resources out there to start thinking out of the box.
The meeting was a great melting pot of highly motivated people from different spaces and companies, from video gaming to professional services, via, of course, mashups
…
I’ll keep you posted on that…

Blog
Alsace is a wonderful region, on the top right corner of France, sharing borders with Germany and Switzerland. Within 2 hours, you can reach Luxembourg, Belgium, Frankfurt, Basel, Zurich, Bern, Paris…
Besides being ideally located in the center of Europe, Alsace is a major node of pure Internet connectivity, combining many fiber providers and numerous data centers. Strasbourg, the “city where streets meet”, was rightfully named!
Universities have a strong role in Alsace with UHA in Mulhouse and Colmar, Université de Strasbourg in both Strasbourg and Haguenau, many engineering schools and labs.
The oldest Alsatian IT company was founded in1908, it is only 12 years younger than IBM. The 70s have seen quite a few ISVs, some hardware vendors in the 80s. Startups, as we know them, have emerged since the early 90s.
Information Technology has become so crucial to our day-to-day lives…
Alsace is an ideal place to embrace your IT partners, whether you need hardware developers, software, e-marketing tools & services, labs, augmented reality, video games, expertise…
This blog is meant to promote all those companies sharing a common passion: Information Technology.
